Did anybody else catch Scanners on IFC last night? I had not seen it since I was ten or so and I forgot what amazing cheesy horror goodness it was! I did not remember that much about the movie itself, but remembered trying to use my mind powers by making funny faces as a kid. The explosions and small bits of gore were great and the veiny firey ending was awesome! In case you have not seen it in a while or just don't mind a spoiler here is the famous head pop scene...
If you're getting one, how are you planning on spending your tax refund?
i owed $570 and now I can't buy any food for a while! ack!

That I am feeling absolutely miserable.
I must apologize to my Vox Neighbors. I almost never post anymore. I just have been really out of sorts and haven't had anything to say. I will try to post more! I did watch a good movie a couple days ago.
Rescue Dawn - This film tells the real-life story of U.S. fighter pilot Dieter Dengler, a German-American shot down and captured in Laos during the Vietnam War. Dengler organized a death-defying escape for a small band of POWs, including Duane Martin.
This movie was so good! I knew that Senor Bale would great as always, but was taken by surprise by Steve Zahn. I had no idea that he had a performance like that in him! I would recommend this movie to everybody even if the outline doesn't interest you.
How did you create your username for VOX? What influenced your decision?

Piper is my real name. I'm highly unoriginal and not very creative lately!
Just wanted to say.... OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!111!!ONE!!!!!!!!!11ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! ELEVEN!!!!!!
Last nights episode of LOST was pretty much the best episode EVER! The first three episodes of the season had been pretty great, but last week's episode was not. There had been a horrible lack of my favorite character, Desmond. Finally got another desisode and it was great! I'm such a fangirl at this moment it's pretty embarrassing. If anything goes wrong Desmond Hume will be my constant too!
I haven't had anything to post lately, but figured I ought to anyways since it has been a while. So here are some movies I have seen recently.
Sweeney Todd : Loved so much. I've seen it twice. Not really sure while some people were freaking out about the gore... Maybe I have just seen too many gore and horror, but I thought it would be even bloodier after reading some reviews and things for it. I thought it was perfect amount. Music was wonderful, costuming was wonderful and the whole thing was wonderful, really.
Atonement - Really beautifully shot. I kinda wish they had shown the relationships a bit more before the betrayal, but overall it was good. Not a movie I would watch again, but definitely worth a viewing. Was also quite happy to see Vanessa Redgrave. Camelot was one of my favorites growing up so I have a soft spot for her. On a sidenote I have loved Mcavoy since Children of Dune... *swooooooooon*
No Country For Old Men - Interesting little movie! The acting in this one really kept me involved throughout the entire thing. The pace was a little bit slow and there was one part at the end I would have liked to see instead of seeing the result of... Don't know how else to say it without spoiling it!
I Am Legend - It was alright. I didn't care for how the creatures looked. I like the Vincent Price version better! Was not bad once though.
Walk Hard - I laughed the entire movie through. A very silly and very funny movie.
Resident Evil : Extinction - the RE movies are crap, but I love them!
Closer - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Hairspray - Not nearly as awesome and funny as the non musical version
Ooo, this movie looks like a must see! Thanks for the info. If you like watching rescue stories you should... read more
on Rescue Dawn!
